Denim, Neutrals & Chocolate: A DMV Maternity Session Inspired by Love and Style
We love when our clients come back to us for their next chapter in life. This maternity session was particularly meaningful because the radiant mother-to-be was once an engagement and wedding client of ours. Now, with baby boy on the way, we brought her vision to life in a stunning, multi-look maternity shoot that was equal parts editorial, elegant, and deeply sentimental.

Look 1: Denim on Denim – Bold, Playful, & Personal
This look was inspired by a custom-painted denim-toned canvas that we created in-studio specifically for this shoot. The couple’s wedding florals made a special appearance in this set, tying their love story into the next chapter of parenthood. From moodboard to real-life execution, the theme revolved around “boy mom energy” and vintage vibes.
💄 Hair was styled in classic pin-up fashion and makeup was flawlessly done by @makeupbytoshia—a DMV makeup artist who also did my wedding makeup and is known for making women glow effortlessly!

This look was joyful, fierce, and filled with “she’s that girl” energy. The mom-to-be truly rocked it!
Look 2: Neutral Goddess – Earthy, Soft, and Divine
For the ladies that love a neutral goddess look. The softness. The flow. The femininity.
Inspired by Aphrodite-like grace, this look featured a cream satin gown paired with dried palm leaf fans and pampas grass, adding beautiful texture and dimension to the set. The focus was on natural elegance, serenity, and showcasing the glow of motherhood. Our mommy-to-be’s deep, rich chocolate skin contrasted beautifully against the soft, monochromatic tones.

This set felt calm, luxe, and timeless—celebrating motherhood with softness and strength.
Look 3: Chocolate on Chocolate – Intimate, Earthy, and Rich
Chocolate on chocolate tones. Chocolate on chocolate skin. The intentional use of brown and black to convey richness, warmth, depth.
The final look was a beautiful chocolate-on-chocolate set—a seamless fusion of warmth and depth. The satin fabric draped effortlessly as we posed the couple together, highlighting their connection and the anticipation of their baby boy’s arrival.
Inspired by an image the mom-to-be shared with me, we added our unique touch to reflect their style. It was luxurious, intimate, and carried deep tones of love, pride, and black family excellence.
